Blogging for the sake of blogging....

Now there's a different post title!!!
You see, something's happening with my scrapping...
[ I challenged myself to use paper I did NOT like here!]

...I've spoken to a few scrappy mates about it now, & it seems a bit odd....
but I'm not getting the same 'buzz' from joining in challenges these days.
Oddly, I'm doing LOs for challenges. But forget, or simply don't get around to
joining them up...
[And I'm really trying to use all those small embellies that I've somehow acquired & that are so popular at the moment!]

...Consequently I've quite the pile of pages that haven't been 'aired' here.
My solution?
Blog 'em for the sake of blogging.
Since the challenges have long closed.....
Like this one! [I actually have a LO with a very similar photo from this same day
published in the latest Scrapbooking Memories magazine!]
[ I think this paper actually SCARED me, with so much patterning. And that's why I hadn't
used it. Using a big frame around the photo, & a plainer ripped sheet
across the page breaks up that busy-ness!]

I really enjoyed using those square die cut bits [the black ones] - they're from Lizzie Crust,
& I've cut them up to make them 'go further'!
And of course, how can you JOURNAL on such busy paper? By adding MORE layers!
And one must journal. Well, THIS 'one' must journal. Even if it's the bare bones such
as the peeps, date & occasion.
[ I find tags really difficult to use, so was please to get one onto my page here. And BRADS!
Remember them? Bet there's some lurking in your scrap stash! ]

It's funny how trends come and go. At one stage EVERY page HAD to have some wood
veneers on them. Now, I hardly use them. The ones above I've inked up with my Faber Castell
Pitt Artist's Big Brush Pen [now there's a mouthful!].
I think the touches of black on this page 'ground it' amongst so much else going on.
There's some raw wood ones in there as well.
So, there you have it.
A LO for no reason at all except I scrapped it and wanted to share that those difficult papers
can be conquered!!!
Do you mind? Do you expect me to only share challenge & DT entries?
Seems quite odd to be writing a post like this.
And it's not even scheduled. That is even MORE bizarre.
All my posts are scheduled these days!!!
Anyways ~ HAPPY SCRAPPING~~~~
Lizzy ♥♥♥

  1. Do we mind???? I can't speak for others but I look at blogs cos I want to see what people are creating. I don't mind at all what reason you're creating for. In fact, creating just for the love of creating has to be the best reason of all!
And yes, that is very scary paper! You've done an awesome job with it! (I would have just used it to back something else and not let it show it's patterns in broad daylight again!)

  11. As I'm not a challenge scrapbooker it doesn't make one jot of difference to me. I come for the fun going on here, and to admire your pages (and that scary productivity rate..)

  12. Hmmm! My two cents worth? Your blog - your style - your way! Love your eclectic, quirky way of seeing the world of Scrapbooking. Love the way you create something out of almost nothing. Not sure I could kick my butt into gear enough to use a paper I dislike; but YOU Miss Lizzy, have the kind of original mind which inspires the rest of us. You page is fantastic. Rock on girlfriend !!!

  13. Mind?? How could we mind?? Your posts are awesome .. so whatever you share and whatever the reason for your posts doesn't matter .. just as long as you keep on creating and keep on sharing!! Besides, creating just for the fun of it is the best reason for doing it! As to this layout .. that is really scary paper but, as always, you have rocked it! Love this!! hugs xx

  14. Oh my goodness... I hope your mojo hasn't caught the same dis-ease mine has.... yes I understand completely about the lack of 'buzz'. sigh... but I'm trying to bring it back. Scrappy camp this past weekend surely did help. Anyways... I love the pop of yellow on your LO - fabulous talented work as usual!

  15. I think you did a great job with the busy patterns!
And yes, obsessions can come and go...it's like eating the same thing everyday..you will get tired of it. :)

P/s: Mostly, I do a layout and then try to fit it to challenges...okay if it doesn't. The main idea is still to get the event documented. So share away!

  17. What a fun page, Lizzy! I love those black square bits! I think it's great that you are blogging just for blogging sake! Do whatever you feel, girl :) xoxox I was thrilled to hear you signed up at PI, then sorry to hear you were overwhelmed - lol! It does have a lot of challenges! I just pick a few each month and do them to keep it manageable! I thank you for stopping in, though, so much! Try again some time when you're up for it - would love to see your lovely pages there! Try the pet challenge sometime! Big hugs to you! xoxox

  22. I think sharing your creativity and thoughts is fabulous...whether for a challenge or not. I always love popping over and reading your quirky and lovely posts! I think you did a fabulous job with this page and the paper you didn't really like...but I think it works well and the black bits sort of frame the photo.... Really like the end result! ;-)

  23. You are a machine Lizzy. I wish I could get my mojo back to just creating because I want to. I love that you used paper you didn't like. I have been watching all of Shimelle Laines videos right back to 2011... getting back to basics and the reason I started scrapping in the first place... the stories. She puts together papers that made my toes curl BUT the end result - FABULOUS! and yes I am shouting too :D She made me realise that you just have to look at stuff differently. I also realised that I am not doing this for anyone else. I am doing it for me and for my kids. :D I love visiting your blog too and I also visit them to get inspiration and see what others are doing. <3 keep at it.
