OFF THE RAILS TUTORIAL & ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE nov 14

Howdy, my scrappy friends! Over at OFF THE RAILS today, I'm sharing how I used the extra ATC's I made for the IDEAL ATC SWAP into cards!
I really enjoyed creating these little scraps of goodness with a pile of 3RD EYE STAMPS & Distress inks.....Here's the whole group of cards made by the girls in this particular swap, based on a winter theme along with something shiny:
 Aren't they cute? Anyone can join in - first in first serve basis:) Here's a closie of mine:
...and if you'd like to see the cards I made, pop on over to OTR HERE:):)
Meanwhile........
ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE
I managed to sneak in this one as I was VERY taken by the sketch:
Can you guess WHY I like it??? LOL.....& it's NOT the photos!!! Oh, joy of joys, I can do LOTS of journaling:) AND I had sooo much that I actually did this [thanks AFSC!!!!!]
Journaling is beneath the LO below - don't kill your eyes!!!
Just a LITTLE journaling, tee-hee;) And Helen W, I was wishing I had your 12x12 printer...but this worked OK!!
I used a Stampin' Up roller stamp across the middle, then popped on some washi tape....
Added some little words & Freckled Fawn resin triangles & a dog clip:
 And below is a chippy circle from the gorgeous Marie-Christine D...I backed it with pink paper so you could see the 'great' a bit better, then layered some washi for 'interest'.
 The flair are from A Piece of Cake Designs & the word one from Flutterby Designs....for those who like a story, here is my journaling:
TAKEN FEBRUARY 1999 AT ST IVES – SNOWDEN PLACE – SYDNEY, WHERE WE ALL LIVED WHEN TOM WAS CEO & PRINCIPAL CHAPLAIN AT THE MISSION TO SEAFARERS.
WE’D ALREADY BOUGHT OUR HOUSE AT WOY WOY & WERE COMING UP MOST WEEKENDS – THE BOYS GOT INVOLVED IN BOTH TENNIS & SOCCER UP HERE
WHEN LUKE [TOM’S BASSETT HOUND] DIED, WE GOT BASIL. BUT HE WAS SLIGHTLY CRAZY & GOT RUN OVER BY A BUS [NO JOKE]. SO THEN TOM SAID “NO MORE DOGS!” BUT I WAS HOME, ALONE, MOST DAYS [DOING A BIT OF MOBILE HAIRDRESSING] & I DESPERATELY MISSED THAT ‘PRESENCE’ A DOG BRINGS.
SO, WHEN MERLE & BILL [TOM’S BRO] WERE OUT FROM NZ ON HOLIDAYS, WE FOUND OURSELVES ‘RESCUING’ CINDY, AFTER READING AN AD IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER UP AT GOSFORD. TOM WOULDN’T EVEN LOOK AT HER TO START WITH. HE SO DID NOT WANT A DOG.
WHEN WE BROUGHT HER HOME, TIM WAS SUPER EXCITED OVER THE MOON HAPPY. ALEX BURST INTO TEARS. HE STILL MISSED BASIL…
ANYWAYS, OVER THE NEXT 10 ODD YEARS, CINDY WORMED HER WAY INTO ALL OUR HEARTS. SHE MOVED WITH US TO WOY WOY & HAD A WONDERFUL LIFE.
SHE WAS UNWELL OVER EASTER 2010 FOR ONLY A COUPLE OF DAYS. BUT WE KNEW SOMETHING WAS BADLY AMISS. WE TOOK HER TO THE VET WHO TOOK TESTS & TOLD US TO RING IF SHE GOT WORSE. WE TOOK HER HOME, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, BEFORE WE COULD EVEN DO THAT, SHE DIED IN TOM’S ARMS. WE ALL HAD A BIT OF A CRY, OF COURSE.
AND NOW? NOW WE HAVE WALLY…
Blessings to you all ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥
PS: That is NOT stitching around the edge, but a stamp! Pretty neat, huh??!!!!

Amiche di Scrap, Rubber Dance Stamps & The Scrap Sisters Cards:

Yup, been on a card creating craze since I got home from holidays!  In reverse alphabetical order [why not??!!] is:
 défi carte
So, basically you needed to do a card using PAPER WEAVING, doilies, butterflies [at least one], twine/string & a banner/flags...plus the colours! Here is mine:

 I've used the paper weaving in the background, then layered up my elements.....this was FUN!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The challenge is to do a Christmas card & to use red!
 I created this red bg using Goose Bumps with ink spray....
 dived into my Chrissy box to find red...plus some gold!!! And came up with this:
The little tree button comes all the way from San Diego - Mum brought it home from her recent USA holiday.Cute, huh? I added some red paint to it:)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love what the DT do over here! Gorgeous stamps, too.....& following the Chrissy theme also this month:

Red, green & gold....you can also use a stencil, but that is optional. I am really happy with this card, as I have used a stamp to MULTI LAYER heat emboss the wreath. So, a layer of gold, then the sparkly red, then a flat black stamping of black Archival ink.
 Also, I won a challenge over at The Scrap Sisters & got a lovely collection of wood bits, sent from Marie-Christine...the tree was perfect, fussed up with some Gelatos:)
With so much work on the wreath,  I kept the rest of the card simple....just some gold embossing & edging & a stamped greeting:)
So, another few cards done! YAY!!!!!
Thanks for looking & happy scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Cardabilities #111 using 7 Dots Studio Goodies!

Hullo, wherever you are in this scrappy world! Today I've got my card for CARDABILITIES #111 based on this sketch:
You may not know, but my lovely scrappy friend, SANNA, entered me in a giveaway & we BOTH won the LOVELY collection called  DESTINATION UNKNOWN from 7 DOTS STUDIO ....so, finally home from Holidays - I had a chance to play!!!
 Yes, those are flowers, LOL...I followed the sketch;) And a local Woy Woy feather makes an appearance:)
 I fussy cut this shape from the 6x6 pad & added the sentiment. The black arrow clip is from Freckled Fawn...
...as is that silver doily  - well dosed with alcohol ink & a bit of gesso...LOTS of glimmer glaze splots in black and blue....& I've used the 7 Dots stamps on the bg pp - the compass & script writing.
Thanks for taking a peek at this one & Happy Scrapping

 Some 2Crafty chippy....LOTS of goodies from last year's SCRAPTASTIC kit...the ribbon, bling & bells are from RUBY ROCKET [thanks Sandy!!!!!]
Some MM work on the gesso covered, then randomly gold embossed chippy, plus...

Gauche Alchemy, FEELING SKETCHY & Scrap Africa ~ November 2014

I've been looking at the Gauche Alchemy challenge for a few months....this month I couldn't resist, as it stars KLIMT, the artist. LOOOOVE his work!
You needed to use 2 of the 3 elements. I chose the bold colours and graphic shapes, & used some freebie papers that came from a SBM mag - it's Basic Grey designed pp.
 Got those yummy triangles from the Crazy Monday shop.....& I know the colours are all over the show....but it seemed to work, so I went for it!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really haven't caught up from our NZ holiday - but I want to scrap... so I find cards are a fabulous quick fix!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, I joined in with FEELING SKETCHY:

I turned it clockwise 90 degrees:

Still using up chippy - A2Z Scraplets, embossed with silver then I added some alcohol ink in pink. I've stamped, distress inked & stenciled the bg paper...
...the butterflies I created using some Bostik glue, mixed with the glitter & left to dry before punching them out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had so much fun, that I kept going. I had a tag left over from a tag swap on Dress Forms through Scraps of Darkness [did too many!], so I created another one & joined in the
2 TAG challenge over at SCRAP AFRICA:
I went to town here - embossing, masking, glitter, rub ons....you name it, I reckon it's here!!! That little metal square buckle? Got it ages ago from the lovely Tania B.
A bit more gold slapped on roughly with a 3rd EYE stamp!
You can see tag #2 tucked in behind the top tag:) It also got a dose of stamping & distress ink to cover that original manila colour......
Are you still with me? LOL....I know, I know.....I should do less close ups...but I get excited about what I've done & want to share it!
Let's Get Shabby #60
Normally, I scrap quickly. Usually in one sitting. However, this one for LET'S GET SHABBY has taken me [literally] WEEKS. As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew I had the PERFECT photo. But what did I want to do with it? Not a scrap page. You see, it's a snap I took in Pistoia [Italy] after the weekly markets, at night time, down a narrow alley as were heading back to the train station to Firenze. In the rain:
So I printed it out on normal A4 copy paper. I also had this ripped out page from the airlines magazine [in French] which I read on the airplane on the way home from Paris [same trip!]....soooo 'image transfer', I decided. I wanted to superimpose my couple under the umbrella into that black & white alleyway. Thus preserving memories from our holidays. And I decided I wanted to make this to hang on my wall. I do so love both images, so very much:)
What's this got to do with the LGS challenge? Well, we can use this image in any way:
Umbrella. That's what I was going for. So, gessoed the two images together, did the 'rubbing back' thing with my fingers & ended up with this:
I actually didn't have a canvas on hand...so I scrummaged around and found the top of a chocolate box to attach it to! Easy to hang on wall!
This is the same bit of the scene finished....I'm not sure what chippy I've used - bits from either/and Dusty Attic, 2Crafty, Imaginarium and I know the little heart arrow is Wycinanka. Have a pile I'm trying to use up, mainly 'cos next year I start DT'ing for Dusty Attic. Doesn't seem 'right' to use other chippy once I'm on their team....that's just how I feel....so I'm chippy-ing like mad atm....plus, it's giving me practise. Win-win!!
 The image wasn't standing out enough, so I re-printed it, fussy cut the figures, glued them on then covered them with Glossy Accents.....this worked MUCH better!
I did quite a bit of bg work with stencils, gesso, paints, embossing etc etc....
Here is my finished canvas:
 And one last close up...the hinges were 'individually crafted'......using some negative spaces from already used chippy packs.....lotta work!!!
So, there you have it. I hope you have enjoyed this 'trip'....thanks for your kind comments & ongoing bloggy support:) It is LOVELY to be home & to gradually get back into my scrappy 'groove'!!
Happy Scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥
Once Upon A...Sketch ~ November 2014
G'day, my scrappy friends ~ time to unveil my LO for this month's OUA...S challenge. Here's the criteria for this month:
Journalling Theme: "Inspiration/I am inspired by etc..."
You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!
One of the scrappers who I tend to have a fair bit in common with, scrappy-wise, & who ALWAYS inspires me AND who I've met IRL is Sarah Groen. This photo was apparently just waiting for this opportunity to be scrapped!
And so, in honour of Sarah, I thought of all the thing she likes - & that I have in my stash 'cos I like them too....& created this:
Oh, MAAAAN....did I 'treat' the bg to a pile of Stuff! I like masks - as does Sarah....I KNOW she uses her sunrays one a lot....that's the one I started with. Six later, plust some gelatoes....it was a bit chaotic. Sort of went a tad overboard....so, out came the gesso....which toned it down nicely....& since it was WET, I added some gold embossing powder. Naturally!
I really love how Sarah inks her page edges & uses chevrons..so on they went! The chippy title is also a 'nod' to her...mine came from A2Z Scraplets, thanks to Belinda Scott! You can just see a YUMMY Evalicious clip arrow there, too.
Both of us LOVED the Pink Paislee 'Portfolio' collection. Can you see the word peeking out at the top here? This is NOT scrap paper - it's the cover page for that collection! And we both like washi...so on some of that went, too:)
Sandra S sent me those 'Kiwi' flavoured buttons....so HAD to use that one as Sarah is a New Zealander! The 'here' one is from A Flair for Buttons.....LOOOOVE them!
 And just one more closie.....
...this challenge is FABULOUS 'cos 'inspiration' really can come from soooo many sources....such a great thing to scrap about!!!
Hoping to see you join us at OUA...S this month:)
