One Little Word #85...

ONE LITTLE WORD has got 'EVOKE' up for this month's challenging word!
I used it like this:
So, there you have it.....it is really interesting what evokes memories. Here's my whole page -I've also used the Word in my title:
LOTS of Mixed Media....& I've used a feather from our garden, heat embossing it alongside the Imaginarium one I won some time ago!
Oh, I do sooooo looooooove doing this to feathers!!!!
And did you notice that DELICIOUS 3rd Eye Flair up top?
I've popped it into a bottle cap! They're the perfect size:) I've added enamel dots, some Glimmer Glaze & of COURSE, some nail polish spots, too;)
Finally got my hands on some Silks Acrylic Glaze in Gold, from TIME TO CREATE...a lovely online Aussie store that has reasonable prices & an interesting range of goodies. I've been wanting this since using it up at Mary's place on my Orange scrapping trip!
I've also used a bit of washi tape in there, too.......I really enjoyed doing this challenge - quite thought provoking & I LOOOOVE that they are a mid-month starting challenge!
Thanks for looking ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Orange Paperie & Co July Challenge...& a post up at SCRAP365

Question. Do YOU do double pages? I did when I first started scrapping. But not so much these days. HOWEVER, John over Orange Paperie & Co has thrown down the challenge.....which [being a really BIG challenge, in more than one sense of the word!!!] I, of course, took up.
The result:
The paper comes from Stampin' Up, but has been gessoed over...then I added [paint tinted] texture paste with a 3rd EYE mask...then I added some mists & sprays...then I added some Distress ink with the same mask! As you do......
You can see the background a little better here & below...& my journaling...!!!!
I planned to put 8 photos on the double---but I only ended up with 7. Still, not too bad! And that date stamp above? Just occasionally it stamps soooo well that you don't need to do a series of stamping:)
This photo I cut in half. I like that idea....the little cameras I've used & clip are from RAINBOW SPLENDOUR...the locator from a prize over at Scrapstuffz, & the little blue strip is from Sandi T!
Below is a flair I got given from my lovely scrappy friend Sandra Scott....sooo nice I used TWO......

....but that doesn't surprise you, does it???!!!! And then I decided I, myself, needed some flair....so thank you to Ali P from Scrap365:
And one more closie, 'cos I had a bit of a tongue-in-cheek moment with the sentiment here [seeing as it's winter atm!]:
...& to show you it even gets cold in Cairns!
Thanks so much for looking. I'm not sure I've fallen in love with doing doubles, but I must say, they're a fabulous way of scrapping holiday photos!
Speaking of Scrap365, I'm up over at their blog HERE with a couple more of my 'takes' on the lovely Kreinik threads.....
& that's it from me!
Cheers for now ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Scrap Around The World - July 2014 - An Art Journal double.

Yup! I felt like 'switching it up'. And I did NOT feel like doing the traditional, multi-textured, pile of masks, mists, sprays, embossed etc etc pages.
I wanted to do whimsical. Mainly cos of the Lawn Fawn die cut clouds & suns, & the stamped hot air balloons that I'd gotten a-hold of from the lovely Carol Theng.....& the MOOD BOARD over at SCRAP AROUND THE WORLD was PERFECT for what I had drifting around in my mind.
Took me 2 & 1/2 hours. From go to whoa....pretty good, huh??!!!!
Tusia's mood board:
I took the hot air balloon.....the blue....& that whimsical image top right......and came up with this.....actually, I'll show you what I sort of started with first. This:
And ended with this...well, actually this is part of it...so read this first......& then - I promise......
...this is the whole finished art journal double!!!!!
And my 'forest' is actually just a scrap of left-over paper with ink sprayed on it....works for me, though....can you see my 'trees'????!!!!!!!!!!!!
A couple more closies:
My die cut clouds....stamped, gessoed then glimmer glazed around the edges!!!!
 Gelatoed suns, too.....
and Staedtler pens were used to colour these in.......thanks so much for checking this one out.....
Cheers, Lizzy ♥♥♥

The Scrapbook Store - July Sketch

Good morning, my friends! Today I'm sharing with you my 'take' on The Scrapbook Store's sketch:
July 2014 Sketch Competition
For a change, a CAS page...I pulled out a pile of PL cards...some from my lovely friend Mary B....some I'd gotten from elsewhere....& used these behind my photo. Somehow, the chippy [A2Z Scraplets & Dusty Attic chicken wire] looked just fine left raw...& the Pink Paislee background paper simply didn't need anything else. So I left it. Walked away. Didn't even FEEL like I should add more.
A rare occurrence, indeedy!!!!
I cut out that arrow with the words from a PL card as well...& stamped the 'highlights' word....added some bits to the green calendar card...
...& I couldn't help adding this GORGEOUS 3rd Eye Flair badge! LOOOVE them:) The alphas are from a giveaway I won from Sandi T....having a BALL with those goodies:):)
And that's about all I can say!!! I DID make an 'oops' with the date - it was actually late June....so instead of trying to rip alphas off etc etc - I just wrote a note on the back of my page......have YOU done that before???
Anyways, thanks for checking this out ~ & happy scrapping!!!

White with One for July 2014

Hullo my friends! Today I'm sharing my White with One challenge entry - you needed to use DUCK EGG BLUE this month.
I went a bit different, as we'd just picked our oranges & I wanted to make a page that I could display on my little stand in our lounge room.....thus, an A4 was born!
I used wood butterflies [Studio Calico that I got to play with c/- Scrap365!] then OVER heat embossed them to get the 'wrinkly' look...the little metal overlay is c/- Monica Brady...thought it worked quite nicely!
...back to my fave 'feather bouquets'....with a delish flair from 3rd Eye Crafts...& that back ground brick work is also one of their lovely masks! The lemons are also treated the same way with embossing powder - I've added a little blue to the stems & leaves.
And here is my full page. I must admit to being REALLY happy with this page. It turned out how I imagined...how often does THAT happen? Well, for me - rarely;)
Thanks as always for the time it takes you to leave a comment - I really love getting them!!!!!
Cheers ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Creative Scrappers #273 - July 2014

There are sooo many challenge sites around....Creative Scrappers is one of my faves to LOOK at...but strangely, I rarely get around to joining in! Today I have:) Here's the sketch:
And here's my page - from photos taken of my lovely Step Grand Girls up in QLD:
And a few closies.....I've pretty much followed the sketch....
I replaced the triangle shapes with brads, a 3RD EYE flair, little glimmer glaze spots & some words, tabs etc:
And my journaling bag:
I've stamped the words from a new Kaisercraft stamp set, that flair is from A Flair for Buttons....& I used a PL card for journaling on!
It was such fun using such bright, fun colours - as much fun as 'playing' with loom bands!!!
Cheers for now ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

PAGE MAPS sketch for July 2014

Hi there! I had a great time with the PAGE MAPS CHALLENGE...the sketch - I flipped it round like this:
I had BIG photos, but I chopped 'em down as much as I could. The LOVELY Pink Paislee paper already had quite a soft, 'artsy' bg - so I simply added some Heidi Swapp ink splats, then some nail polish pink dots & some Bo Bunny stamps to 'delineate' the page to the left of the photos:
I'm on a 'drive' atm to scrap multiple photo LOs....somehow those pics are breeding almost as fast as my scrappy supplies!!!! So this is a series of unrelated pics that I just really liked, starring Mum & her Boy!
The gaps are for me to fill in when I work out the proper dates!!!! Sticker fun here *winks*
Can you see why these simply HAD to be scrapped???!!!!
The 'me love' is how our Grand Boy talks at the moment.....oops! I see one of my hairs made it onto my page! Oh well.....
Nail polish....I have HOT pink now, thanks to my Grand Girl who came to stay & 'made' me buy it---- just as well, as it was PERFECT on my stars & chevrons! Anyways, that's it for this page...except to say I hope SANNA can see that I've used those speech bubbles she sent me a while ago!!!! Thanks, my scrappy mate:):)
Page Maps have wonderful sketches & great prizes - well worth bookmarking if you like challenges!

Journalling Theme: "Numbers.."

Pick a number and center your journalling around it. (i.e. FIVE men in my life, TEN quirky traits, THREE long term goals, or 2014--the date I will do ___)

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!

And that, my friends is our challenge over at ONCE UPON A...SKETCH for July!!! Here's my take, for the mid month DT reveal:
Thought I'd start with the journaling.....I've used mostly Simple Stories papers. I really like them!
I've added washi, flair, wooden hearts that have been coloured then nail polished...& I FUSSY cut out those little punched holes from the pp!!!!
I didn't have a hash tag to match my title, so cut one on my Silly machine then coloured & glossy accented it to match;)
I hope you get a chance to join us in this month's challenge....lots of different things you can do with numbers, I reckon:)

A chat & A message & some other Stuff---

Hey there! I've just been blog visiting & the Lovely Helen T reminded me how we often forget to share the pages that have been published....
& Annie Claxton, along with a few other peeps [thank you ALL - you know who you are!!!] wanted me to join with the 'What you're working on' blog hop....now I'm home from hols & only slightly behind...I thought I'd try to do an abbreviated form, including some of my Scrap365 mag pages!
What am I working on now?
A few things - including a post for over at Off The Rails:
And this is one of my all-time products. Thanks Sanna for introducing me to it!
How does my work differ?
Hah! We're ALL individuals - so it naturally follows that we'll all create differently. I'm a bit OTT when I scrap. It's all or nothing. Usually I finish a completely full up to overflowing page with a CAS one.....to balance it up!!!
Journaling or a bit of irony is often in there, too;)
Why do I create what I do?
The memories; the story telling; the creative buzz. The CHALLENGE - I am an Aries....all are reasons!!!
How does my creative process work?
Usually with a photo. Or papers. Or a mood board. Or an idea. Like I wanted to heat embellish a real feather one day. So then I had to build the page around that one!

I'm not going to nominate anyone.
Mostly this has 'done the rounds'.....hope you didn't get too bored reading this!!!
Now, since I've been showing some of my LOs from this fabulous mag...read on!
From our intrepid Editor, Ali, over at Scrap365:
