CSI #116...

...another really INTERESTING case file over at CSI for #116. Check this out:
I've used all the colours; my evidence includes circles & metal....the testimony - I've used song lyrics....I don't actually know the name of this song, but I know the words...mind you, I may have slightly adapted the lyrics over the years! Still....here's my journaling first. As I often do, tucked into a little [dotty] bag:

The grey colour is on the bg of this tag.....a bit of teal ink splotched around:) Even got some circle ribbon!!!!
So.....that's the story....& here's my page:
I figured since it was about a song.....well, I'd sorta 'mimic' the idea of a record. Yes, I date pre-CD!!!
My 'metal' ...a brad from my good mate Sandra Scott...she was wondering how I'd use it!!!
My chevrons....silly cuts....a direct 'lift' from Sarah G...love how she white lines them! Couldn't resist!
And one more closie of the 'fun' MM I sort of got carried away with doing around the page:
Right-oh...I've done a pile of other CSI cases that I just haven't had a chance to pop up...but that's for another day.....many thanks to the following for goodies found on this page:
Carol Monson [won a kit through her!]
Scraptastic [the kit I won through Carol's INSPIRATIONAL blog!]
Meg's Garden [washi tape]
Happy Scrapping with all the NEW April challenges popping up left, right & centre:)

The Orange Paperie March challenge

Hello fellow scrappers! The Orange Paperie, as always, has a fabulous challenge! This months' is to use a vintage pic but NOT vintage colouring - browns, creams etc.
I pulled out an old photo [let's not be cruel & call it 'vintage' just yet!] of my brother & I as littlies. This is for my 8x8 'family history' album for Lucas & any other grandkidlets that might come along at some stage or another. Hopefully. And a girl would be nice, too. Just saying!!!!
Thought I'd add a little 'tutorial' on how I altered a journaling card. It's cut from some SODAlicious paper & started life like this:
I needed to change the colour...so I gave it a coat of gesso. If I'd clear, I would have used that...because I still wanted to see the lines & the heading...but I had to go with a VERY light coat of white...
Then I added some Mr Huey's spray ink 'sunshine'...just with a paint brush...but it was too bright:
So then I sponged on some Distress Ink in Marigold. I ran over the title with a marker, added some matching paper to cover the 'SODAlicious' printing & wrote on my journaling. Isn't it amazing how a few simple steps can make such a different??!!!
And here's my finished little page....it's a bit of challenge making this smaller size:
The flair is Evalicious [thanks Nat E!], the papers c/- the lovely Jasmine S...the glassine bag from The Greatest View & the little banner from a win over at Flying Unicorn & CSI...a few 'Silly' arrows & Liquid Paper white splotches!!
This challenge quite 'stretched' those scrappy muscles!!
Take care now ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Scrap Friends March sketch #23

Another BEAUTY of a sketch from SCRAP FRIENDS....one to really make you 'work at it', I found. But of course, that's part of the challenge of this wonderful craft....right???!!!!
Here's what I created:
I had some of that older Heidi Swapp paper that is sort of resist...so, maaan, I WORKED it!!! Black gesso.....Dimensional Paint [thanks for the tip, Nadia C!] onto a plastic doily [thanks Mitra P!], then the green chevrons were molding paste mixed with paint [thanks Lindy G!!]...THEN a spritz of Dylusions blue....to tie in with this:
Isn't he THE cutest Purple Pumpkin button??? There are piles more fun ones in their shop....this one sooo works with my page about:
Oh, yes! The Wonder Dog, Wally...looking slightly fluffy...or you could describe him in this way:
Used my MOTEX writer from PP...mounted on card, because that bg was slightly 'bumpy'!!!
I am in an embellie swap group...so THANKS Heidi W & Monica B....used a couple of your tags in here!
The cogs & gears come from Tone-Lil.....LOOVE them, plus some wooden ones from Finnabair...
Oh! And those white 'spotches'? LIQUID PAPER, my friends *winks*!!!!!
And this is it! Based on this sketch:
Sketch Challenge #23
You can see I've 'mirror imaged' it - needed to do that so my photos 'worked':):)

White With One - Latte Challenge

And as you can imagine, I was SOOOO tempted to actually scrap a picture of a latte - my 'go to' coffee....but I'm leaving that to Heather McM....cos that's her 'modus operandi' [or however you spell it!!]....hope she takes up the challenge!
Anyways, I couldn't go past this photo, which I LOOOVE!

I have to say, this one did not come together easily, & MOST unusually, I actually BINNED the first background. Not like me at all....anyways, THIRD attempt later here we have it! Some closies:
That's a 3rd EYE star stamp behind, along with a Mr Huey's mask...the numbers have been traced from a TCW mask....stitching.... & the striped material tape is from The Trinket Track...
Delicious arrows from my Dusty Attic win...as is the flair, from A Flair for Buttons...
I've stamped, fussy cut, layered a pile of elements over that VERY big heart that I got years ago from Irini Liola....eventually EVERYTHING comes in handy, right???!!!!

I even managed to tuck a feather or two in! The heart beneath the 'remember' has journaling on the back!
I think the DT work for this challenge, & the entries are some of the best I've EVER seen...well worth popping on over to White with One to check them out yourself.....
& speaking of challenges, don't forget our Purple Pumpkin, LESSology & Once Upon a Sketch ones as well! Plenty to keep you busy!!
Sooooo....happy scrapping:)

Hey there! One of the scrappy girls I follow, Heidi, is on the team over at SCRAP IT GIRL. So I thought I'd join in - such an EASY challenge....anything as long as it's about birthdays! I made a card from some left over paper I'd 'created'. Such FUN I had!
Boy cards are ALWAYS a challenge to me....think I did OK with this one....oh, & that's A Piece of Cake Designs cherry flair in there, too:):)
Meanwhile, over at:

I've created a card using the sketch - I made the denim flower....
the others are Prima, alongside some Dusty Attic leaves. VERY old Crate paper! More stash used. YAY!!!
Thanks for looking ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

And to say I'm a tad excited is an understatement! I'm so very, very happy to have joined the smashing team over at OFF THE RAILS...& since I'm 'playing' alongside some girls I know pretty well---an added bonus! So go check out the fab team HERE if you don't know who I'm talking about!
The challenge for this fortnight - starting the 21st March is FREE....yup...totally & absolutely up to you! Not only that, you can do a card, PL, a Mixed Media creation or a layout.
I must admit, this threw me a bit. I like direction! So, I made up my own. I decided to do a 'lift'. Sometimes I'll 'save' pages I REALLY like, just to 'ooh' & 'aaah' over occasionally.....this one from Mumkaa [Magda Bolinksy] does it for me:

 And here is my lift:
Another old photo from pre-digital days. I'm really enjoying getting the more important ones scrapped!
And man, I had such FUN doing this. So, join in - 'lift' someone [always check it's OK with them - Magda was a gem - most scrappers are:)] & show us what you can do:):)
Some closies:
The background was a 'failed' page I'd gelatoed up & didn't like. Gessoed over it, to soften it then added stamps, ripped paper [those 6x6 pads], stickers....washi tape....masks.....you name it!!!
Once upon a time, I won a giveaway from Linda E....chippy fence! Finally used. TICK!!!
A Silly '@'....looove that little camera stamp set from Amy Tangerine - in a giveaway I recently won from Polka Dot Creative!!!
And in here is a 3rd Eye stamp I just keep reaching for - those pink diamond shapes. The turquoise is Silks Acrylic glaze. Super-duper stuff. A little sure goes a LONG way!
Hope this has inspired you to join in at Off the Rails
The challenge starts March 21st for 2 weeks:)
And the prize?
The winner of the challenge will get to tell us all about themselves, share their blog and show us one of their first layouts and one of their current layouts.

~  Blessings, Lizzy ~
Goodies from:
Tone-Lil [patterned paper - thanks my friend!!]
Off the Rails [a win! From before the DT gig...patterned paper..appropriate!!]

Stuck?! Sketch March 2014 with Scrap Stuffz...

I've joined the March 1st sketch at STUCK?! & also the SCRAP STUFFZ challenge...luckily we can combine them! Here's the sketch:
& here's the inspiration pic:
It was the bright primary colours that I took from this pic. This one is rather bold. I think this is my 'natural' style, really. It's the 'Aries' part of me, I reckon:
Told you! I've popped a Greatest View glassine bag behind it all, covered it with washi on the Left end, then some cute little circle [BG] stickers on the right [thanks Jas S!]...around the edges are stamps from the Zeus & Zoe Etsy shop as well as one I won from Prima!
The Washi tape is from Purple Pumpkin & that cute flair is A Piece of Cake Designs.
The stars & arrow are wood, which I've inked black - I've added some cute little word stickers from Cosmo Cricket & lots of Pink Paislee ephemera:)
I used some teensy little stickers that I got in a give away from Polka Dot Creative.
You can see my journaling 1/2 out - because the bag is clear[ish], I've added some bits & bobs to the INSIDE of the bag.....
Lotsa journaling. I went through my older photos & found some I really wanted to scrap!
A couple of tags up the top of the photo....they 'worked'!!
One more!!! I really had fun 'fussy-ing' up the bag!!!
Thanks for checking this one out!!!!
Happy Scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥
