SCRAP THE GIRLS, A PAINTING & A TIP POST. But not rubbish of course!!!

Recently in NZ, my DIL showed me some photos
of her girl in a poster advertising their dance show. I snapped
some photos of the poster & have scrapped them for her.
The SCRAP THE GIRLS mood board was just perfect!
I think you can see how I was inspired, heehee! The 'music' flair is actually
gold card, with the music paper in the middle all covered with one of those
epoxy sticky rounds from Sawyer's Place!
I punched some hearts, then cut around some to just get the
outline...the butterfly flair is from ADRI DU PREEZ.... I got them
via my scrappy friend Lynette J.
That gold twine is from Stampin' Up, but I think they don't sell
it ant more. I've done some 'inky' circles & thanks Yvonne Y for
the buttons! Here's my full LO:
I haven't journaled on the front, cos I need the info on when and who
the other girls are. Once I know, that info will go on the back.
Oh! And the other exciting thing I did was a PAINTING!
I don't paint. Never tried. But I went to a free library acrylic painting
demonstration with Judith Hoste, a well known Central Coast artist.
And got inspired. So the next day I had a go. Here is hers first:
This is what I came up with. You've got to remember, first time ever;)
 And LASTLY but NOT LEASTLY!!!
I'm up over at OFF THE RAILS with a TIPS post for you.
Most of us have die cutting machines of some sort - be it a Big Shot,
Sizzix, Cricut, Silhouette,
or Brother Scan'n'Cut [my newest toy!], for example.
How do you store your die cuts?
Take a peek at OFF THE REAILS if you're interested!!

ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE ~ FEBRUARY 16

Good day! I don't seem to get to play with AFSC that often these days.
Too many challenges; not enough time! But this one 'tickled my fancy'!
February you may use one full sheet of paper only,
and all other pieces of paper in the layout must be
from your scraps. One embellishment must be
leftover from a package where you have used your
favourite embellies from it already, and have not
ound a use for the one you choose yet.
Since this year is my scrap busting year [cough, splutter....well. I'm TRYING!!!!] this
worked a treat! My paper choice - all double sided, which helped:
The 'xoxo' little scallop sticker was from my scrappy mate JO, ages ago.....
& I do LOVE my enamel dots, but these are VERY old ones, too:)
I even CUT FLOWERS out of some of the floral paper. Move OVER
YES! You DO need to see a photo of my fussy cutting. Giggles....
And on the page:
And I'm enamoured with these Pink Paislee puffy stickers. Which might not be
that old..... !!!!
Such a LOT of fussy cutting. For me, I mean!!!
I really liked the way this turned out. Doing the KISS principle here.
You haven't heard of it? Keep It Simple Sweetheart/Stupid. Whichever
you prefer!!!!
Anyways, I'd like to thank AFSC for a wonderful challenge this month!
Blessings ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Challenge YOUrself & White With One February Challenges:

Hullo there! I've been blessed to meet a scrapping girl who lives close by
who likes to pop on over and scrap with me. Which means while she's
working away, I have a bit of time to scrap myself!

So:

That 'swoosh' of chocolate ink pad on the bg? An idea from Sian F, when
she created this LO HERE.
And then, I was looking at this ad & decided it would make a good sketch:
Can you see it? Ooops! Might have used the inspiration photo as a
stamp-off & do those markers work which thickness do I want
place, too;)!!!! ANYWAYS. What I'm saying is using inspiration
from various sources can help that mojo:)
I had completely overlooked the fact I had NOT scrapped Lucas's
birthday from May 2015. BAAAD Ma!!!

Meanwhile, over at CHALLENGE YOURSELF:
I find these words hard. But this one didn't take much thinking at all.
And it fits this year of travel & simply enjoying being with my DH
& my grand boys & my friends....I reckon I should TREASURE
each moment. So, I will do my most to follow that thought
through.
That's my thoughts. Used a host of pink ink sprays to create splots
& some circle-ish shapes!
I've seen a few peeps use those diagonal corners & really liked
the effect. The 'treasure' is my writing, then cut using my
Brother Scan N Cut:
I never thought I'd use the clock flair...but it fitted perfectly
here! From Jennifer Grace's shop HAPPY SCATTERS.
Flamingo. Fits too, I think! Thanks Jo R for those stickers, LOVE them!
And finally, some Dusty Attic chippy also sprayed with Glimmer Mist.
Hope something here sparks some inspiration for you guys!

CCC SWAP FOR JANUARY ~ 2016

Hi there! There is always a lag time between when our cards are
due for the CCC & the reveal. After all, they have to fly to many
different parts of the world, And that takes time.
This month I used the sketch to create this card. It
went to my bloggy pal, Gail, in Norway :)
White card became blue with the help of distress inks, following the ideas
I got from AUDREY BLAIZOT. It's a common one, but I think
she demonstrates it really well in her video.
Then I added some bokeh with heat embossing over it.
On the back of the finished card, I stamped 'made with love'.
Then accidentally cleaned it on the envelope.
So it then got decorated too!!!
My whole card. I was given that little bird in a pocket letter swap.
And the flair is from Adri du Preez, Lynette J's mate.
Contact her if you're interested in getting some. They are LOVELY:)
I hope Gail liked this card. It was great fun making it.
Cheers for now ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

OFF the RAILS CHALLENGE ~ DT REVEAL:

Hey there! It's already the middle of the month.
And a short[ish] one, too! However, there's still plenty
of time to join our current OFF THE RAILS challenge:
Choice  of two:
Romance or, below, Summers Day:
This is the one I went with, as you can see below:
Thanks Lizzy C for the sort of trellis die cut!
I used texture paste but it blended too well, so got
out the texta & did some outlining!
I've decided poor old Ollie is going to be squished between his elder brother
& younger sibling yet to be born. So making a concerted effort
to scrap plenty of pages of him before the next one arrives in June!
Those word cut ups are from Studio Fourteen 40. Cute!
I was blessed to be given some Close To My Heart papers, stamps etc by
Scrapbooking Memories Magazine, to do a commission. This paper was left
over. Perfect for the colour palette at OFF THE RAILS.
Hoping you have a chance to join the fun:)

Being Away...

...this year, as I think I've mentioned, we've a few trips and bits planned.
So I envisage that I won't be quite as good at keeping in touch with blogging
& with posting. Or going in quite so many challenges.
And all that was an intro to a couple of PL pages I've done, for our recent
New Zealand trip to visit Tom's family. We had a LOVELY time.
All the photos were taken on my IPhone. Then I've created 4x6 size photo collages
using my  Becky Higgins Project Life App.
That way, when I get home, I simply print, then fussy up  - like with
the arrow & washi, above.
I also use my Little Moments App by Fatmumslim for most of my editing
& to add those cutsie words/stickers above. And the stars below:
This makes it sooo easy to do my PL. Semi digi scrapping, I guess
you'd call it. Here's the above photo on its whole page:
The black and white words are my writing, cut out on my Brother Scan N Cut
machine...... I like to think of my PL pages as 'eclectic' in my good moments.
A total 'hot mess' in my bad. But hey! It's what I do... 'so be it'!!!
For what I WISH I was like - but will never happen, check out
ELISE at FEED YOUR CRAFT. In fact, I'm sure she won't mind if
I pop a sample up here:
Is that not DIVINE?
But I digress...so, just for contrast [LOL!!!} here's my other page:
Just missed the birth of Great Grand Child #4 by TWO days.
Aaaah well----good excuse to return later on!!!!
Blessings for all the different types of scrapping you do, folks.
ENJOY!!!
Cheers ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

For our new Great Grand Baby...

Yes! A bit of excitement with a new Great Grand Girl in the family.
Yesterday I made OLIVE a card. Today I have to go buy a present!
Thought I'd follow the FEELING SKETCHY sketch.
Instead of circles, I've used hexagons & I've also used one
of my ATC cards [I made too many!] from a swap:
Here's a bit of a look at the texture and gold of that arrow:

While I'm here, I forgot to share this card from a couple of months
ago over at the CCC [card swap].
I really enjoy this swap! And I stayed CAS [as possible, that is!!]
I'd gotten this tulle around a gift earlier this year:
Got out an embossing folder I'd never used!!
And added a word I wrote then cut out with my Brother Scan'n'Cut.
That's it from me today

TIPS'N'TRICKS post for ARTASTIC ~ FEB 2016: Creating a background:

Good morning my scrappy friends!
I'd like to share with you how I created this background,
from my last month's ARTastic DT LO.
Here's a reminder of the finished page:
I'm hoping something from this tutorial will inspire you in your crafting:)
STEP ONE:
Coat your card with clear Gesso. I use Liquitex.
Scribble on your Gelatos:
STEP TWO:
Using a water spray, mist over your Gelatos & smudge with your fingers.
Keep doing this until you're happy with the effect:
NOTE:
Your LO may 'curl up' - don't worry. We'll fix that later!
STEP THREE:
To get some texture for the sea, add the Molding Paste to your page,
then using bubble wrap, dab over it to create a bumpy look
Let dry:
STEP FOUR:
Add blue Gelato, in the same way as above:
STEP FIVE:
I used crackle paste over a stencil for the sunburst effect:
I liked how it still allowed the colour to peep through underneath.
To finish the sunburst, once dry, I sponged over it using Distress ink.
Here's a close up:
A COUPLE OF OTHER TIPS:
Because this background was textured and bumpy, it was easier
to simply staple my bg layers of patterned paper to the card stock
then adhere my photo to this.
I have NEVER regretted buying my long arm stapler. They make
a fabulous birthday gift!!
 TIP TWO:
When you've stapled or sewn through your card stock it makes it neat
& stops threads coming undone by simply covering with some masking
tape!
LAST TIP:
When you've finished 'playing' with your page, to 'uncurl' it & make it flat,
simply turn it over & using any wet medium - I use white gesso -
paint the whole page. The 'push-pull' effect will uncurl your
LO beautifully:)
There you have it!
Thanks for reading this. I hope it helps in your
creative journey.
And as always ~ Happy Scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥
