Brissy Waters...an OTPer for Unruly Paperarts:

Yup, that's where we live. By Brisbane Waters, which is approx 1,000 miles
from Brisbane. Of course;)
And UNRULY PAPERARTS is a 'new' challenge for me, anyways.
I came across it from Julie Short's blog:)
I recently took this photo of one of the [very few] remaining Oyster sheds near our home.
My DH really liked it - shot out of the car with my iphone in the rain, BTW!!!
So I thought I'd create a canvas [recycled - bought at the op shop,
originally bright blue with flowers attached!!!]
I gave it a final coat of glossy gel medium & found it hard to photograph it without the glare:/
I've use mostly 7 Dots Studio stickers and tags.
I've also popped on some Dusty Attic chippies. The texture is created
from a base coat of tissue paper, glued on with gesso.
Then I went to town with microbeads, some stamping, lots of inks and paints...

 And masking [sloppily!]. Of course!!
I DO love how the tissue paper clumped up a little like leaves, too.
Hope you enjoyed this OTP project for a change:)

7 Dots Studio - June Challenge & Show Us Your Stuff + my BOKEH TUTORIAL...

Over at 7 Dots Studio, this month is all about 'Time Flies' as the inspiration:
Here is what I did. This photo was taken in 1991!
I've used some 7 Dots Studio patterned paper [not very patterned! I added this stencil work:)]
& some of their stickers and die cuts.
The flair below is from A Piece of Cake Designs:
Some of the stars are from Creative Embellishments - I won some of their goodies!
Below is my journaling. I couldn't go past the title 'Time Flies'......
Used up some wood alphas that I've coloured with Faber Castell markers:
Some of the elements looked a bit 'flat' - so I added some Dusty Attic Clear Gloss Varnish.
That did the trick!
And the camera, below, fitted an enamel dot from Sawyer's Place, to perfection!!!
And here is my whole page.
A little busy, but I wanted the juxtaposition between the old and new photos.
And of course, I had lots of journaling [surprise ~ NOT!!!]
I've added the wood chevrons to mimic those on the bg stencil:)

Thanks Deb for the tag!!! From a win over at Let's Get Arty:)]

SHOW US YOUR STUFF CHALLENGE:

That butterfly REALLY got me.
The bright colours. And those black words.
My hand crafted embellie is a Charm's Creations heart runner....but I cut off the runner bit!!
That LOVELY flair was gifted to me by Mitra. Thank you!!
I have used some stars and enamel dots from Cocoa Vanilla Studios....
the transparency was also from Mitra.
It got 'doctored' too!
Originally it was like below:
And on my page, I added some Cocoa Vanilla wood stars:
I don't know WHERE I got this cardstock from, but it's almost like a canvas weave
and I LOVE it!!!
I got out my clear crayon and randomly
drew a butterfly then used spray inks to create the colours.

The whole page:
The title is also from Cocoa Vanilla.
I'm having FUN using their goodies!!!
and finally:
BOKEH TECHNIQUE
You will know one of my fave techniques is the 'bokeh' one.
A few peeps have mentioned they'd like to see how it's done, then
the lovely Debbie J from DEER & FAWN asked me if I'd like to share
it over at her blog.
So I have.
You can click the link HERE.
I've also popped up a video.
It's been ages & I'd forgotten how to even upload them!
BUT I have kept is short. Under 4 mins. Impressive, eh??!!!
And as a 'tease', here's the cards I created once I'd made my bokeh up:
Hope you enjoy the tutorial..... it's a really easy, fun background to create
&
thanks to YOU guys who come on by to read my posts,
for your kind words and constant support of my artsy endeavours!
Happy Scrapping, my friends ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Get your SHABBY CHIC on - a card tutorial for you!

Those of you who know me will know that flowers aren't my 'thing'. I find them hard to use at the best of times.
You will also know I ADORE a challenge. Even a self imposed one.
I was blessed to receive a good dose of flowers in my DA kit.
So, I figured it would be fun to see if I could use them. And I think I've done OK.
A couple of the cards I made you can see HERE.
This is the third of the batch, which I saved so I could do a step by step.
So here we go!
I gessoed over some white card stock, then added a stencil.
The seed beads stick well to wet molding paste!
I'm using the card on the right below:

Next I added some DUSTY ATTIC RAISIN  & DENIM PAINTS, watered down, with a sponge brush:
You can see I've dabbed off with a bit of paper towel, if the colour was too strong.
I've also used a water mister to keep my paper dampish, so the paint didn't dry too quickly.
Then using my finger, I added some CASHMERE into the mix, to lighten it all up:

I decided to cover my background with Gel Medium - to make sure the seed beads stayed in place.
Inspiration struck & I added some glitter at this stage!
While this was drying, I fussied up my Elegant Swirls #3 & #13 with gesso, then some DA paint:
Then added these & some DA flowers [Smokey Blue, Vintage Rose & Evening Blush]:
My sentiment was stamped, fussy cut, then dabbed with some of the left over paint.
Once this was attached, I went over all the flowers with some gesso on a sponge.
Et voila! The bird cages can be found HERE.
I've also added a few sequins:

 The whole card:
Hope this makes you itchy to get scrapping!
And remember, Dusty Attic goodies are available online HERE.
Cheers ~ Lizzy

SCRAPKI WYZWANIOWO June challenge

SCRAPKI WYZWANIOWO:
The challenge is to use DAMASK:

For this challenge I reluctantly dug into the very special papers
that JELISSA MEI had sent me.
Her very own range! Stupid, isn't it, how we 'save' such things for 'special'?
This piece of gorgeous pp is now scrapped!!!!
The bit of lace below, holds a big tag of journaling in a pocket
behind the main photo. Extra photos are tucked in as well.
The butterfly/flower paper above [thanks Jasmine S!]was colored with markers. It was black & white.
Boring! You can also see the little purple epoxy round I made
myself with the clear sticker bubbles. [Thanks Sawyers Place!]

Above....LOTS of rub ons around the lady sillhouette. AND I used my
Tinby Metallic Melts. Heather McM would be proud of me!
Below are some words c/- Kaiser Craft -
layered over more stickers...
Below shows more 'colouring in' of that bg pp from Jas S...
& I've used a couple of little 7 Dots Studio word stickers that 'fitted' the
occasion of Holly's Christening Day in NZ last year:
Below - my whole page where you can see I've stamped my
damask onto the background around the photo.
I've also used some mists to 'deepen' the colours already on
the paper:
Thanks so much for always being such supportive and lovely scrappy peeps!
Blessings ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

Couple more CwiC Cards...then it's TIM TIME!!

...weeeeell.....phonetically I could get away with 'quick' like that, couldn't I??!!!
And then I've got a nice line of alliteration.......
ANYWAAAAAYS. I've declared June Card Month!
Anything goes as long as it's a card.
Christmas!!! Of COURSE;)
Lots of embossing....lovely, lovely stars - thanks Linda E for that v handy stencil!!!
Then.........over at

The colour scheme is obligatory; the SUN / SEA theme is optional, which I didn't go with.
This is why:
You see, I wanted to use my Rubber Dance Stamps man-stamp!!!
Amongst others [the crackle bg one is from Creative Embellishments
This WAS cream cardstock to start with;)
And I got my brads out. And USED them. Such a GOOOOOOD feeling;)
And finally...
Now, I don't think I'm a 'big note it' person.....but secretly,
in my heart of hearts....I prefer my tag to Tim's!!!!
I'm not going to ask you what you think, cos you're probably
already rolling your eyes and snorting in your coffee!!
Mine:
As usual, I didn't have the stuff to use that Tim has. But I used Distress ink
to create my 'plaid' bg
& was REALLY pleased I managed to [just]
stamp 'coffee' on the round bit!

Lizzy C gave me that yummy coffee stain stamp [thank you!]
which I thought just 'had' to be added
I liked my twine take around the cup!

So, there's your lot for today;)
Thanks for looking
Cheers ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥
PS: Since I wrote this post, I was also VERY lucky to win a Giveaway over at Rubber Dance Art Stamps...so a BIG thank you & congratulations to Bibi for her first anniversary!!!
