SCRAP ADDICT SKETCH

Well, thank you folks for being so sympathetic to my early work journey! Only 3 more days & then I'm FREE!!! Meanwhile, I managed to squeeze in the Lovely Helen Tilbury's sketch challenge - she's just started creating them & I think this one is fabulous! Here's the sketch she'd like you to have a shot at:
This is part of her GIVEAWAY this month. Pop on over to the link HERE if you'd like to find out the 'finer' details. Here's a piccy to whet your appetite!
And here's what I came up with. A shot from Vanuatu. More yummy food - what can I say? When we go travelling, part of the absolute joys is trying different foods.

This paper was from my prize pack from ARTFUL DELIGHT. I really, really love how Leeanne puts them together & I think they are excellent value for money. The 'sunshine' writing is a Prima stamp that came with the kit as well:) This is Fancy Pants paper. Very nice!
I used the big cup cake as a template, & cut the journaling one out of an index card I had - added some liquid pearls as the cherries on top! The other cup cake is an old Inkadinkadoo stamp. I've used some Pink Paislee rub ons here - the vintage children; as well as Kaiser Craft - the suns & flags.
Here are some of the D-LISH SCRAPS flowers and a butterfly; a GREATEST VIEW button & the spotty butterfly is cut from the punch available at SCRAP FRIENDS. It's been covered in Washi tape- had to get some in somewhere on my LO!!
The words 'let your smile be your umbrella' is another of the pink paislee rub on set - as is the 'sunshiny day' below. GREAT pack from their Spring Jubilee range.
Sort of went with that vine you can see on the back wall of the shop, & popped the flower & then the little banner right beside it - thought that worked OK!!!

You can see my Purple Pumpkin button here, EP sticker letters for the title --- and this was VERY scrumptious! This is the first page I've scrapped in simply ages - everything else has been 'pre-done' for before I went in to do my work stint....so it was FANTASTIC to get back in the 'saddle', so to speak.
Right Oh, that's all for me - hopefully I WILL NOT get the wrong train tomorrow!
Cheers,
Lizzy H

SOMETIMES I WONDER...

NO SCRAPPING INVOLVED. SWITCH OFF NOW UNLESS YOU WANNA BE ENTERTAINED IN A DIFFERENT WAY:):)

Got up this morning, dressed, food in, down to train station (look at the gorgeous stars, darling, says DH)...& yes, clear sky; no moon; amazing sight. Couldn't find fellow co-worker on the platform. Sensible girl probably drove in. I was going to, but felt too tired-and I'd already paid my weekly $60 ticket, so why pay extra for petrol on top of that?
Got into Central station, where I know I have a 20 min wait for the bus....wandered to the loos....then looked up my watch.
Hmmmnnn....6:55am. Woops! My watch battery has gone again. Checked the lovely big vintage station clock. 6:55am.
HUH???
Checked phone. 3 messages from DH + same time.
Yup. How totally exhausted do you have to be to mistake the time & get up & catch the train an HOUR EARLIER THAN YOU NEED TO?????!!!!!!!!
Not to mention, my phone was on silent so his calls went unheeded & of course, I was only just in time for the train....so, alas...my Knight in Shining Armour was unable to rescue me from said mechanical horse. The train.
Oh well....
Tried to attach nice photo of this station...but it won't work ....
Hope your start to the day is slightly more successful than mine. Course, it's just I'm such a dedicated, eager worker.....yadda, yadda, yadda!!!!

FEELING SKETCHY CHALLENGE #17

I'm squeezing this one in - I actually got home from work last night & just 'had' to scrap something; so FEELING SKETCHY came to my rescue - thank you, girls!!! Here's the sketch:

And here's my interpretation...I've used flowers for the 'shapes' & the fence for the pink strip across the card...I hope you can still see the sketch!

The grey blooms are from KESI ART and the fence is a MEMORY BOX die. The felt flowers came in a package from the Lovely Bec over at SCRAP JACKED....still a few days to have a go at their great challenge...alas, I won't make it this month...take a peek, it's a FUN one:):)

I know I'm not on the PURPLE PUMPKIN DT or anything, but for fans, don't forget tonight is the BIG SALE with those scrummy 'lucky dip' bags back!
And, of course, don't forget our SCRAP FRIENDS challenges - details on the side bar
That's it for me. It's Friday today. Happy weekend for those who begin it this arvo:):)

SKISSEDILLA JULY SKETCH

Hello folks, well I haven't been in this one - but I've been looking! It's a bit more 'free form' in how you interpret the sketch, which makes it really interesting. Normally SKISSEDILLA have more than one challenge a month, but because it's holiday time in the Northern Hemisphere, they've got the following sketch challenge going for all of July:

I wanted to scrap all our photos from the Falls, when we were in Vanuatu, on the one page ~ & this sketch allowed me to do that. Most of my work is in the circle with the stitching & paper string, & on the bg on the brown card stock, where I have used texture paste for my chevron mask, as well as lots of paint, mists, and also Pearl Ex made into paint to give it extra of shimmer and sparkle! I also used Pearl Ex on the title, where it's silver - just brushed it on with a paint brush. I ADORE the sheen it gives! Those are American Crafts DIY thickers, which have a sticky surface, so you can create your own finish. Clever!

Short post....which is nice for a change! Getting tired working now....so glad it's only 3 weeks!!
Take care,
Lizzy H
BTW - had some 'happy news' on the way in to work this am - got an 'Honourable Mention' over at Let's Get Shabby for my Notebook Photo stand. The standard over there is just AMAZING. Go have a look...so I was really pleased to be in such Esteemed Company!!!!

CARDABILITIES card sketch

Yes, I know, Karan over at CARDABILITIES is sorta on a break...but she put up this sketch to have a 'go' at, & since I had out my embossing stuff & Core'dinations card stock...& since my hands were itchy & lunch was over [it was GREAT!!! I'll pop in a piccy or two:):)]....I did this one!
The sketch:

Washi tape - the floral - & also, on the sentiment, I've stuck it vertically on white card stock before punching it out...didn't have a colour that matched, so that worked OK!
These butterflies are stamped with clear embossing powder mixed with PEARL EX powder...I'm doing some posts on this marvellous stuff for SCRAP FRIENDS & keep reaching for it in my scrapping, so it must be good!!!

And the BEST thing about this card? Scrappy Sharing....the pink flower with the sequins flew aalll the way from Vienna from SANNA...a fantastic scrappy friend & co-DT at SCRAP FRIENDS; the paper bag [seriously!!!] flower is from my very good friend MARY B, who loves French stuff almost as much as me [she'd say it's the other way around!!!] & the satin one is by 'moi'.
And here's a couple of snaps from today that will get scrapped, undoubtedly...& the roast lamb was sooo good. So was Mum's ginger cake. YUMMMMMYYYYY!!!
Don't they make the sweetest li'l family?
The proud Unc with #1 nephew!
4 generations...my Mum's been ITCHING to get a photo like this. And look at the [totally unplanned] colour co-ordination???!!!!!
That's it. Back to early starts tomorrow. Yuck. Hope your week will be a good one. Keep thinking about those poor peeps in the USA....makes you appreciate today, that's for sure:):)

HARD CORE CROP CHALLENGE from KIM

It's the weekend - a short one for me, however I really, REALLY wanted to participate in KIM'S CHALLENGE on behalf of CORE'DINATIONS for the CROP...it closes today, but I've squeezed this between getting the roast on for the family dinner celebrating DS's 24th birthday & actually eating it!!!
You needed to use CORE stuff, & what's in - like chevrons, arrows, banners, confetti. I've done all that. Chevron mask on that LOVELY plum Tim Holtz Seasonal Core...plus, I've cut out a clock from the Graphics 45 Core collection, sanded it up & then added MY question mark [heat embossed] because this LO is all about 'when'. It's for my Mini Album about our family's history for the Grandie/s - I guess I'll get more than one if I'm lucky, one day......
Here 'tis:
The clock signifies how I don't actually know when this picture was taken - as I've explained in my journaling.
I've used my mask BEHIND this Core Card stock, & with a dry embossing tool, drawn lines quite firmly, then turned it over & sanded it so you can see the chevrons -I rather like the effect!
Some flags, & a yummy GREATEST VIEW button!
My Washi tape arrows are hanging around the place - backed them off onto different coloured card stock to give them more substance - a few bits of 'confetti', mostly in the shape of brads, floating around! The mist is Mr Huey's.
I won that flag ages ago - can't remember who from now...it was an end I had hanging around. Now it's hanging around in a better spot!!!
Happy Sunday to my fellow Southern Hemisperer's...lucky peeps in the North, still have it to come!!!

DARING YOU TO SCRAP - JULY CHALLENGE

Hiya there - over at DARING YOU TO SCRAP, the current challenge is to use TAPE & TWINE on your LO. Here's what I did:)

Poor old Geordie often feels the girls have all the photos taken of them & LO's made with them..I had these photos left over from when we visited over Easter & they are such 'boy' photos! I am really pleased with how this one turned out. There wasn't a plan - I basically chose my colours & let the photos dictate the page!!! Lots of fussy cutting, but that seems to be something that is also 'organic' in nature - it just seems to 'happen'????!!!!!!

Went around the title with white to make it 'pop' and match the twine! Gotta have things matching, eh??!!!!!
Masked stars; heat embossed stars...pleated and stitched washi tape - why not???!!!!
That's it from me! Almost! Don't forget to join in the new INSPIRATION CHALLENGE over at SCRAP FRIENDS - info on the side bar.

Also, a big 'thank-you' to TIFF over at THIS ONE'S A WINNER - the easiest to ever enter a challenge. Seriously - you just send her your fave LO & she'll pop it up on her blog. There is an amazing array of inspirational LO's over there, especially from her FAB DT.
Not only that, you're then in with a chance to win prizes! I just got a really yummy little pack from her....PRIMA FLOWERS [what's NOT to like!!!] that came from her store - SCRAP SANITY!
Take a peek....g'arn....it's the weekend....plenty of time for surfing:):):)
Cheers, Lizzy H

BERRY71BLEU Colour challenge

This month, BERRY71BLEU has a really, really gorgeous challenge - it's worth going HERE just to check out the yummy Pinterest images! It's all about colour & texture.....I've remained faithful to the palette of white/creams, browns, greens, pinks and gold. This is a smaller page for my 'Woy Woy' photos album, so it's an 8x11" LO. I took the photo on our waterfront - these jonquils were flowering out of season & in amongst a pile of weeds...but their happy faces really stood out!

I've used lots of liquid pearls, & that fence is a new die I got for my Big Shot. It's a Craft Die - Estate Fence & I have discovered you have to be REALLY careful popping these out as they  break easily. But it does look sweet! The green pin is from Zeus & Zoe - I've found them REALLY handy!
I popped my journaling right down the bottom, under the lace & ribbon.
These alphas are Pearlised, so they have a nice sheen that you can't really see here!
Another die from METALIKS, this time! I've also done lots of misting & some gessoing on my LO here.

I may have gone a tad overboard with this one, but I really, really enjoyed doing it...hope you enjoy taking a peek:):)
Thanks for always being so kind and supportive in your comments - I really love reading what you have to say...apart from the odd Viagara salesman that creeps in somehow!!!!!!
Cheers, Lizzy H

AND just a T-A-A-D excited.... I had a bit of good news from SCRAP AFRICA and get to GUEST DESIGN!!! Wowsies! That made my day yesterday....I was skipping around the house like a school girl:):):)
